UNDERSTAND: 1. What in life do you wish to experience success at?
2. Who can you think of right now that is already experiencing that success?
3. What do you feel makes that person successful in that area?
LEARN:
Modeling For Success
Many people think you can become successful by just asking for advice. The challenge with asking people for advice is that they don’t always know what is attributing to their success. Even though they don’t fully understand what makes them successful they will still give you tons of advice. The real secret is finding someone that truly understands their success. If they truly understand their success they can give you the things you need to know to replicate that success.
You can’t just listen to how people are successful and all of a sudden magically become successful yourself. Rather then just listening to their success you have to model it. Don’t just do as they say but rather you need to do the things they do. When you study their mindset, beliefs, the language they use, the actions they take and ultimately the regimens (actions) that they do on a consistent basis and put those things to work for you success will be your outcome as well. The thing with business is that it is has nothing to do with genetics it has everything to do with how you think and the actions you take day to day. Now I am not telling you to stop listening to successful people but rather find ones that truly know what is attributing to their success and when you are talking to them read between the lines to understand the bigger picture and replicate it.
Everyone always thinks that they need to re-invent the wheel. You can definitely become successful by reinventing the wheel; however it is a longer process. If you were to take a successful person that you know today and focus on what makes them successful and replicate (modeling) it you will cut your learning curve down tremendously. At this point you will now also be operating at more of a conscious level. When you are now focusing at more of a conscious level it then becomes easier to analyze your self an put additional things in place that will get you to greater levels of success.
PRESCRIPTION:
1. Review the understand section of this article.
2. Take time to better understand that successful person. Spend time speaking with that person or hypothesizing on what makes that person a success.
3. Understand their beliefs, their values, the language they use and their mindset around the area of success you wish to experience.
4. If you were to try and replicate that persons success what are 5 things that you could change up right now to help you begin your journey for success in that area?
5. Take action on the items you list in #4.
6. Don’t just do the tasks of successful people, adopt the same mindset and develop the same level of passion around the different areas of that mindset.
7. TIP: When you are analyzing someone in order to model them, try to find someone that is acting at a conscious level competence. What I mean by this is someone that is successful and knows in detail what makes them a success. Some people are successful and do not fully understand what makes them successful as it is wired into their DNA (the act on a subconscious level).
8. Do, act, talk and feel like a successful person does, you will find that same success is sure to follow.
9. As always remember to journal. This is critical in helping you analyze progress and stay true to doing everything you need to in order to experience success.
