createmasks_img6What am I? Who am I? What are people thinking? There isn’t a day that goes by that most of us aren’t trying to figure out who we are and what our purpose in life is. Always striving to be more, striving to fit in but yet striving to stand out and be unique. After all the so called greatest creation of all is life but yet there is no instruction manual, there is no inherit instinct that allows us to fully realize what we are here for? Or is there an inherent instinct? We rely on what we observe and guidance that other people give us and just pray that the wacko’s aren’t at the front door passing out the guidance. Just when you think you have it figured out “WAMMO” life throws another curve at you making you further wonder and guess at what your purpose is.

Not only is there a sense of confusion as to what our true purpose is, but there is also a fear of showing others who you truly are. Like the legendary fictitious super hero’s Spiderman and Batman some of us fear showing the world who we really are deep down inside and wear masks for fear of prosecution or to help us obtain more of certain things that we want and deem important at the time. A mask for work, a mask at home, a mask when out and about around town, leaving only one question out standing. Does it ever end? In previous management positions that I held the entire foundation of hiring and driving people to what we called a persons full potential was built around finding people with a strong sense purpose and exploiting it to get what the company needed. Hire a person with a strong sense of purpose and you can get them to do a whole lot more by yanking on their puppet strings like some kind of mid evil side show freak. However, when it really came down to it, the puppet masters like the puppets were hiding behind their own masks never to fully realize or reveal their own true sense of purpose, let alone did the puppet masters really help their puppets fully uncover theirs. At the end of the day, it was about having your puppet make a buck for the company so that you can look good and have your mask look a lot better to other people higher up to help you with your own personal gain. So, here we are, mask wearing puppets in the midst of the so called game of life.

Who we are, how we are defined and having a sense of purpose is not defined by the fact that we know how much money we want to make over the course of a year, its not based on who we know, its not based on what puppet master has a hold of your strings at any point in time. It’s defined by who you are without the mask. It’s about everything that is under that mask that never gets a chance to show and shine. No matter who you meet, no matter what a person does, no matter who is pulling their puppet strings at that moment we all have a credible amount of uniqueness and power inside us. This uniqueness and the inner abilities that surround it is where true happiness, power and direction is. However, that is only realized if the mask is off and you are not only true to yourself, but you are true to the rest of the world with who you are. So many people are trying to be what they aren’t because they are trying to hard to fit in and meet up with other peoples expectations. Fear and external pressure is what brings out these masks and nails them on to your face with no hopes of getting them off. The true question is how many times a day do you have incredible thoughts, ideas, or feelings that could take you and the world to the next level that are never realized because they are filtered by the masks that you wear and the fear of taking that mask off and taking a chance at being you.

As I mentioned earlier, the greatest gift is suppose to be life. I believe the second greatest gift is being yourself and realizing your potential based on the forces within yourself and living every part of your day and life with no mask, the genuine you is where the power and your true direction is.
